The first annual OBW Pancake Breakfast was held last Saturday at The First Watch restaurant in Leawood, Kansas. "It was a huge success!", said Pat McGee, guitarist and vocalist for the band. "All six of us made it to the restaurant before noon. That's when they quit serving breakfast and switch to lunch." Apparently the pancake breakfast was a band only gig. And all band members ordered pancakes except for horn player Eric Wilson. "After a long night of rehearsals, I actually prefer the Floridian French Toast. I find that the bananas, kiwis and granola sprinkles give my body the extra carbs it's craving."

The 2014 Pitch Music Issue is out and OBW phone player Joe Nicholas has been nominated for "Best Phone Player" in the KC Metroplex. "It's a great honor", said Nicholas. "People don't realize how complicated playing a push button telephone really is. Especially a vintage Bell System Western Electric 2500. Each button is a melodic note that has to be pressed at a precise moment with in a musical phrase. Hit a wrong note and the entire band can get thrown off. " Winners will be announced in the July 12 issue.
